The National Council on Problem Gambling releases new services
The project is hoped to increase accessibility to the helpline
The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) has released a promotional toolkit and analytics dashboard to increase accessibility to the organization’s services.
The NCPG are a non-profit organization in America that seeks to mitigate gambling-related harm.
The toolkit and the dashboard have been funded by the National Football League (NFL) via the NFL Foundation. A selection of local resources has been introduced to the service to assist those who are seeking help with gambling problems.
Updates to the helpline including enhancements to network services, training, operations and public awareness. The confidential helpline is free and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be accessed through the easy to remember number 1-800-GAMBLER.
The toolkit is designed to help align messaging between healthcare providers, media, state agencies, gambling operators and other organizations promoting the project.
Along with this, they have released the National Problem Gambling Helpline Analytics Dashboard, a free service that is design to show transparent data and trends on traffic that comes to the service. The service includes interactive graphs and charts that allow users to filter the date, state and contact method.
The helpline network consists of 29 contact centres that provide information, resources and referrals for all 50 states and US territories.
Keith Whyte, Executive Director of the NCPG said of the update, “We are thrilled to release these resources for the National Problem Gambling Helpline.”
Whyte expanded by saying, “Our research indicates only 45% of Americans would know where to get help for someone with a gambling problem. We hope this toolkit will make it easier for organizations to raise awareness of the helpline and connect people with the resources they need.”
