GeoComply provides grant for ICRG’s two-year research project
The organization will examine the long-term effectiveness of self-exclusion.
GeoComply, a fraud and risk solutions provider, has agreed to finance a two-year research project for the International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG). Through the grant, the ICRG will study self-exclusion programs used by both land-based and online gambling operators and their effectiveness long-term.
The ICRG has compiled a list of potential topics for the study, which includes the most effective long-term self-exclusion form, considering what criteria is needed for self-excluded people to return, ideal times for self-exclusion and if the term itself stigmatizes people and prohibits them from enrolling on other sites.
The organization plans to publish its results in October 2025.
ICRG President Arthur B. Paikowsky commented on the growing demand for this research.
He said: “There is a necessity to determine whether enhancing these programs would result in more customer participation and whether this would be beneficial.”
