Rush Street Interactive and The Connecticut Lottery Corporation to end relationship
The lottery company will look elsewhere for sports betting operators to partner with.
Rush Street Interactive (RSI) and the Connecticut Lottery Corporation (CLC) have announced a joint plan to “wind down” both their online and live sports betting offers in Connecticut, with a view to ending the partnership.
The CLC will issue a request for proposals in the upcoming days and begin pursuing a new operator. Sports betting in Connecticut will still be operated through RSI, on behalf of the CLC, until it selects a replacement. Both companies expect this to be during the latter half of the year.
Gregory Smith, President of the CLC, commented, “We thank RSI for working closely with CLC to establish the foundation for CLC’s sports betting operation, both online and in retail.”
PlaySugarHouse.com bettors who have wagered either online or in person at any of the nine Constitution State locations can trust that previously placed bets will stay valid. All wins will be appropriately paid out and RSI is working to minimize any potential disruptions to either players or business partners.
Richard Schwartz, RSI CEO, said, “We are proud of what we have accomplished together in Connecticut and have enjoyed the relationships that we have built with the players. After much deliberation and discussions with the CLC, we believe it is in the best interest of RSI and our stockholders to wind down this partnership.”
Schwartz continued, “As is consistent with nearly everything we do at RSI, both RSI and the CLC remain committed to putting our players first. We plan to continue to support all player wagers and ensure a positive player experience and expect the changeover will have an immaterial impact on our guidance for 2023.”
