NFLPA renews with Epic Risk Management
The existing partnership has been renewed with the aim of educating players.
The National Football League Professional Athletes Foundation (NFLPA) has renewed its partnership with Epic Risk Management and Entain Foundation US to educate on the risks of gambling harm.
The partnership provides gambling harm prevention, awareness and education, as well as sports integrity programs and advisory services.
This partnership will also provide workshops, seminars, events and customized projects using in-person, lived experience facilitators. The ambitious calendar of delivery looks to cover NFLPA members and their support networks, from the locker room to the board room.
John Millington, Senior Director at Epic Risk Management said, “We are delighted to continue working with the NFLPA PAF on their proactive and holistic approach to prioritizing the welfare of the person behind the player.
“The prevalence of sports wagering continues to increase across the USA. 50m Americans wagered $16bn wagered on the Super Bowl. The need for pioneering, preventative approaches to raise awareness and minimize risks of gambling harm also increases.”
Caryl Banks, Senior Professional Athletes Foundation Manager at NFLPA, added, “Educating our members on potential risks is a vital part of the work we do for our membership. Since being the first Players’ Association in the US to partner with EPIC Risk Management, we have collaborated to raise awareness around problem gambling.”
Through the NFLPA/PAF, the NFL became the first US professional sports league to run a program on problem gambling education, when they first engaged with EPIC Risk Management and Entain Foundation US to face the issue head on.
Martin Lycka, Trustee of Entain Foundation US, said, “We are glad that the funding provided has helped EPIC to have such a huge impact on one of the highest-risk populations.”
