IGT and Greentube sign patent cross-licensing agreement
This deal licenses their combined portfolios and ensures intellectual property protection.
IGT and Greentube have announced a cross-licensing agreement that includes patents related to remote game server (RGS) technologies. Once this deal is executed, IGT will be able to offer the global gaming industry a patent license to the combined portfolios of itself and Greentube.
Greentube is the digital gaming and entertainment division of Novomatic, a full-service gambling provider. It recently signed a deal with operator LatamWin, which will boost the company’s presence LatAm, and it will also supply a selection of games to Latamwin’s customers in Chile, with Mexico soon to follow.
IGT CEO Global Gaming Renato Ascoli commented: “This agreement continues the spirit of collaboration and innovation that IGT seeks to foster in our industry.
“We look forward to providing the entire gaming industry with the opportunity to license the combined RGS portfolios of IGT and Greentube which cover compelling technologies for delivering games to customers wherever they play.”
Greentube CEO Thomas Graf reflected Ascoli’s enthusiasm, saying: “We are very pleased to reach this significant intellectual property agreement with IGT, as Greentube continues to expand its premium gaming products and solutions.
“The combined RGS portfolios of Greentube and IGT are truly state-of-the-art, representing a combined prowess and gaming industry leadership that is well-positioned to fuel continued success.”
This collaboration is part of a joint effort from both companies to protect their intellectual property. IGT has a long history of doing this, signing a landmark patent deal with Scientific Games in 2017, before PASPA was even repealed.
More recently – in November 2022 – it signed a patent license agreement with EveryMatrix, an iGaming company, which noted that the deal was integral for its US expansion.
