Nevada Gaming Control Board Chair and Executive Director resigns
Governor Steve Sisolak announced the resignation of J. Brin Gibson, who was appointed in Nov. 2020.
After formerly serving as Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak’s general counsel from January 2019 to January 2020, J. Brin Gibson went on to become the Nevada Gaming Control Board Chair and Executive Director.
Gov. Sisolak announced the resignation of Gibson, who was appointed to the board in November 2020 and will conclude his time with the board at the end of the month.
Gov. Sisolak’s office said the reason for the departure is for Gibson to pursue a “new professional opportunity,” informing the Governor of his intent to leave earlier this year.
Gibson commented: “I am humbled and honored to have served as chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board at this critical moment for Nevada. I am proud of the work we have accomplished and I know there is so much more ahead for my colleagues.
“I want to thank Governor Sisolak for giving me this opportunity, and for his leadership and support over the years.”
Taking over Gibson’s former position of Chair and Executive Director is Nevada Gaming Control Board member Brittnie Watkins, who was appointed to the board in April 2021.
Gov. Sisolak added: “I am grateful to Brin’s steady leadership at the Gaming Control Board over the last two years, and his continued counsel and friendship to me. We wish him and his family nothing but the best for Brin’s next chapter.”
Gibson worked closely with the Governor, first serving as general counsel from 2019 to 2020. He also assisted the Governor’s Office during two special legislative sessions over the summer.
