Poll indicates majority of Kenosha County residents favor Hard Rock casino
The data says 60% are in favor, compared to 25% against the project.
A poll shows the vast majority of Kenosha County, Wisconsin, residents favor having a Menominee Indian Tribe and Hard Rock International casino built in the region.
There was a clear two-to-one margin, with 60% supporting the project compared to 25% opposing it, according to a poll conducted by the Tribe’s gaming commission.
The survey was undertaken by the Tarrance Group last month, and it states that the Kenosha casino has even higher levels of support when the other counties in the region – Racine, Waukesha and Milwaukee – are accounted for.
This separate poll of the four-county region has support at 60% and opposition at only 15%; a three-to-one margin. A breakdown of the data shows that support was highest in Waukesha County, where 63% of the respondents favored the casino project. Racine County had 62% in favor, while Milwaukee County came in at 58%.
Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin Chairman, Ron Corn Sr., commented: “Kenosha area residents have made up their minds, and they support a casino by a wide margin. They understand the value of attracting more visitors to Kenosha who will spend more money locally, help create more jobs, and make Kenosha a destination to enjoy big-name entertainment.”
In July, the Menominee Tribe announced it was partnering with Hard Rock International, in an effort to relaunch the Tribe’s opening of an entertainment center and casino on the west side of the City of Kenosha.
The Menominee Tribe would own the casino and its related facilities, while Hard Rock would serve as the developer and manager of operations.
