QCI executives release third edition of ‘The Math that Gaming Made’
Ongoing changes within the industry prompted them to update the previous version.
Quick Custom Intelligence (QCI) executives Andrew Cardno and Dr. Ralph Thomas have published and released the third edition of their book, The Math that Gaming Made. The book focuses on making money within the gaming industry through the use of marketing data and math, as well as on changes within the market that affect the relationship between casinos and patrons.
Both authors have decades of experience within the industry and have published several other titles, as well as articles pertaining to gambling.
QCI co-founder and co-author Andrew Cardno explained his motivation behind writing the book and said he hopes readers will better understand the nature of the gaming industry after they read it.
He commented: “The gaming industry is unique because math model-based experiences are sold to customers who then choose how much they would like to pay for this experience. This creates a specific set of math problems where the normal rules of economics don’t apply.
“The Math that Gaming Made helps readers understand these unique analytical challenges and intertwines the probability-based value of customers with what they perceive as additional entertainment value.”
The updated version covers a variety of gaming-related topics, including theoretical wins, evolution within the gaming industry, slot hold, locational intelligence and how it shapes communication, as well as how data clusters can aid casinos in holistically engaging guests.
QCI CEO and co-author Ralph Thomas summarized how the new edition can benefit readers.
He said: “Gaming is a math-and data-driven industry, and the book provides readers with a thorough understanding of the role math and data played in developing the industry, and provides a path forward to success.”
