Harrah’s breaks ground on Cherokee Valley River Casino expansion project

The North Carolina casino hotel will gain a World Series of Poker room.
Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel in Murphy, North Carolina has broken ground on a second renovation project that will add a rooftop restaurant, new hotel tower and additional gaming floor space within the casino.
The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians built the $110m casino and opened its doors in October 2013. The latest construction project marks the second expansion during the last seven years of the casino’s operation.
The company expects the expansion will be completed within the next two years.
Once finished, casino hotel guests will have access to a larger gaming floor that will contain 50% more slot machines and an additional 12 table games. The casino will also feature a new ten seater table World Series of Poker room.
The renovated hotel will host twice as many hotel rooms than it currently holds. Other amenities that will be added to the property include an indoor pool, an expanded motorcoach lobby and a spa with a fitness center.
General manager Lumpy Lambert expressed his excitement about the ongoing project and said the casino anticipates the new expansion will “exceed all expectations.”
He commented: “Since opening day we have continued to exceed all expectations set for us. This will be our second expansion project since opening, with the first expansion completed back in 2017.
“We are grateful for the continued support we have received and look forward to welcoming guests to enjoy new experiences in 2024.”
The Harrah’s brand is affiliated with Caesars Entertainment, which was founded in 1937. Caesars Entertainment originated in Reno, Nevada and has expanded over the years to include facilities that operate under the Caesars, Harrah’s, Horseshoe and Eldorado brand names.
