NorthStar Bets to adopt Playtech’s platform
Move indicates NorthStar’s growth ambitions in the Ontario market.
Playtech plc is expanding its North American footprint by officially launching with sports and iGaming operator NorthStar Bets. The latter, an Ontario-based company, will see Playtech’s technological solutions integrated into its product as it seeks to expand in the newly-opened Canadian market.
The launch comes on the back of a strategic partnership between the two companies that was announced earlier this year.
The agreement will see NorthStar’s strategic software and services become Playtech technology. The B2B supplier will also have its IMS, casino and live casino platforms live in Ontario.
With the addition of Playtech’s poker content later this year, the integration of the Playtech suite will be complete.
Playtech already has a significant global footprint. The company, which was founded in the UK in 1999, is currently active in 26 countries, boasting upward of 6,000 employees.
On the integration, Playtech COO Shimon Akad had the following to comment: “The launch of Playtech’s new software and services partnership with NorthStar Bets is another key milestone in the development of our strategy in North America.
“NorthStar Bets is uniquely positioned to become one of Ontario’s premier operators, and we’re delighted to be working alongside them to build a market leading responsible gambling proposition.”
