Both Texas Station and Fiesta Rancho in Las Vegas to remain closed
Station Casinos has received approval to keep the casinos closed for at least another year.
The City of North Las Vegas and the Nevada Gaming Control Board have approved the continued closure of the Texas Station and the Fiesta Rancho. Each of the properties is owned by Station Casinos.
This will see each property closed for at the minimum of another year, which was originally closed in March of 2020. Along with the Texas Station and Fiesta Rancho, the Fiesta Henderson was closed in 2020 as well.
The original reason for the closure was an order from Governor Steve Sisolak. Sisolak closed all casinos statewide as a precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Station casinos kept the properties closed after the order was lifted because of the uncertainty surrounding the economy.
These weren’t the only properties closed by Station Casinos during this time. The Palms Resort property was also closed and then sold to the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians of California. The Palms was reopened in April of 2022.
The North Las Vegas City Council voted to follow the direction of the Gaming Control Board in regards to the two casinos’ licensing. This will allow the casinos to stay closed until at least June of 2023.
Whether the casinos will be sold or not is yet to be determined. Spokespeople for the casinos have declined to comment on the closures including the potential sale of the two properties.
Gaming Control Board Chairman Brin Gibson administratively approved a temporary closure of the casinos through December 30, 2022. From there, Station Casinos can petition for extensions.
Gaming regulations state that the properties are required to pay licensing fees for one slot machine and one table game. These regulations also state that they must operate at least one day during each calendar quarter.
