Station Casinos begins work on $750m Durango Casino & Resort
Currently being built in southwest Las Vegas, the Durango Casino & Resort in Las Vegas is set to launch in late 2023.
Red Rock Resorts had a private ceremony to break ground on the new $750m resort. Employees and executives, including new company President Scott Kreeger, were in attendance.
The casino and resort itself will feature a 200-room hotel tower and an 83,000-square-foot casino. Plans that were made available also include a 216-foot-tall hotel, a casino, pool with an event lawn, four signature restaurants and bars, outlets, a race, a sports betting area, and more.
Station Casinos has owned this 71-acre property in southwest Las Vegas since 2000. Per the Associated Press, a second phase would add another tower, more hotel rooms, theater space, and an enlarged casino.
Richardson Builders will be the project’s construction manager, the architect on record is the Vegas-based Friedmutter Group. Red Rock Resorts also unveiled renderings of the resort’s interior.
In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Kreeger said: “We bent a lot of rules in what was traditionally viewed as a gaming property and I know that was met with great success. So I think the types of things you saw with Red Rock you’re going to see at the next level with Durango.”
He went on to say, “When we build a property we take what we’ve learned along the journey and create something new that’s relevant for the time and the customer preference and stretch the envelope of creativity.”
Kreeger was named President of Red Rock Resorts on February 28, before then he was the Senior Vice President of Development. He rejoined Red Rock Resorts in September of 2021, after serving as Director of Operations Development for the Galaxy Entertainment Group.
The Durango Casino & Resort is expected to launch in late 2023.
