Gaming Realms receives iGaming supplier license ahead of Ontario launch

Ontario’s iGaming market is set to open on April 4, 2022.
As the launch of iGaming in Canada’s most populous province edges closer, a number of suppliers have recently obtained Ontario licenses. One of these companies is Gaming Realms, a developer of mobile-focused gaming content.
Michael Buckley, Executive Chairman of Gaming Realms, believes Ontario can be the company’s biggest market yet; he said: “Ontario should be a bigger market for Gaming Realms than any of the US States that have regulated so far, so we are very excited to have been awarded our supplier license in this territory.
“Our approval marks an important step in the group’s growth trajectory as we focus on expanding and strengthening our global presence and bringing our hugely popular and innovative Slingo content to new audiences.”
Ontario has a population equivalent to that of the US’ fifth-largest state, thus providing an ample market for all suppliers and operators looking to work within its borders.
Gaming Realms, which will initially offer its Slingo content throughout the region, believes revenue will surpass that of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan.
Following the launch of Ontario’s market, the brand will move to launch its full portfolio of games in the province.
A number of other organizations have also recently gained supplier licenses for the region, with Bragg Gaming being one of them.
Speaking on the coming launch, Bragg’s CCO, Chris Looney said: “Ontario is where we call home, so we are very excited for the opening of the regulated iGaming market here, as it offers significant untapped potential for Bragg to showcase our leading content and platform technology. Receiving our supplier license in Ontario will allow us to make consistent progress as we prepare to launch in this exciting marketplace, where we are seeing strong interest from a deep mix of local, and US and international-based operators with both land-based and online backgrounds.”
Supplier and operator licenses are distributed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. Presently, only a small number of companies have permission to offer their products in the region upon launch. Among these companies are PointsBet, theScore and FansUnite.
