Treasure Island Resort & Casino announces expanded charitable giving initiative for 2026
The Prairie Island Indian Community will match all guest donations next year, with the Charity of the Month program expected to generate $1m for regional nonprofits.
Treasure Island Resort & Casino and the Prairie Island Indian Community have outlined a major expansion of their long-running Charity of the Month programme, committing to match every guest donation made throughout 2026.
The initiative is projected to raise around $1m for nonprofit organisations across Minnesota.
The move forms part of the Tribe’s wider Island Impact corporate social responsibility strategy, which has contributed nearly $30m to charitable causes since the casino opened in 1984. The expanded programme will support organisations in Red Wing, Hastings, Goodhue County and the surrounding region.
Prairie Island Indian Community Tribal Council President Grant Johnson said: “Giving back is central to who we are as Dakota people. Our ancestors taught us to care for our neighbors and to share our resources for the good of all. This expanded initiative is a reflection of that belief, tribal gaming for good.”
Treasure Island guests can contribute to the programme during Charity Bingo events or by donating unclaimed slot tickets. Established in 2020, the initiative has raised more than $1.3m to date.
The 2026 cycle will support 12 nonprofits selected by a community engagement committee, including Hastings Family Service, CARE Clinic, Red Wing Area Food Shelf and Special Olympics Minnesota.

Our guests’ generosity inspires us to do more, and by matching their donations, we’re doubling the difference we can make in our local communities.”
The programme’s announcement follows a separate development earlier this year, when Treasure Island, under owner Phil Ruffin, entered a franchise agreement with Accor.
The property is scheduled to join the Handwritten Collection later in 2025, becoming the second hotel-casino in the US to join the brand after its recent multimillion-dollar refurbishment.
