Fanatics Sportsbook’s ‘Fair Play’ injury insurance pays out $1.5m

Key Points
- Fair play injury protection covers the whole first half for all 2025 professional football games
- This weekend, Emeka Egbuka’s hamstring injury in the second quarter triggered a $1.5m payout
- 20% of new sign ups to Fanatics Sportsbook choose it because of ‘Fair Play’
Emeka Egbuka injured his hamstring playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend, triggering a $1.5m payout from Fanatics Sportsbook, due to the operator’s ‘Fair Play’ injury protection system.
While many operators offer similar tools, Fanatics has released a statement noting that many competitors only offer coverage of the first quarter of games.
Egbuka was injured in the second quarter, with Fanatics offering protection across the entire first half of all 2025 professional football games.
Customers received cash refunds for prop bets regarding Egbuka whether it was a pre-game wager or in-game wager, and for anyone with an Egbuka prop involved in a parley, Fanatics voided that leg, allowing the rest of the bet to play out.
It ended up being the biggest payout since the introduction of ‘Fair Play.’
For one person, the voiding of the Egbuka part of a six-leg parlay meant an individual payout of $27,894.
Good to know: Fanatics has recently announced that it will be hosting its third annual Fanatics Fest event in New York next summer – the expanded program will last four days
Internal research has found that of the new sign-ups to Fanatics Sportsbook, 20% of them point to the ‘Fair Play’ function as being the reason.
Reporting suggests that Egbuka’s injury is not as severe as it could have been and he will be back in action before too long.
