PointsBet enters Maryland market with Riverboat on-the-Potomac partnership
The partnership is subject to the receipt of necessary regulatory approvals and licensure
PointsBet has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary PointsBet Maryland LLC. has entered into an agreement with the Riverboat on-the-Potomac to provide online and retail sports wagering in Maryland.
Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan signed legislation on 18 May 2021 allowing online and retail sports betting in the state, with PointsBet partnering with the Riverboat on-the-Potomac, a licensed satellite simulcast facility for horseracing and minority-owned small business.
“With terrific partners in The Riverboat on-the-Potomac, PointsBet is thrilled to begin the process toward offering the passionate, sports-loving community of Maryland with the fastest and most differentiated sports betting product across every customer touchpoint,” said Johnny Aitken, PointsBet USA CEO.
The initial term of the agreement is ten years, while PointsBet will pay the Riverboat Group online and retail sportsbook market access fees, as well as a portion of revenue derived from the operations.
