Brazilian Government launches anonymous reporting platform for match-fixing
The new tool forms part of Brazil’s wider interministerial action plan against sports manipulation.

Brazil has launched Apita Cidadão (Citizen Whistle), a digital platform designed to facilitate anonymous reporting of match-fixing cases.
The tool allows the public to report suspected cases of sports manipulation and it enables users to fill out a four-step form covering the date and location of the match, those allegedly involved and a brief description of the incident.
Reports will be forwarded to federal police for investigation.
Besides this measure, Brazil has formally notified the Council of Europe of its intention to join the Macolin Convention, an international framework supported by nearly 50 countries that facilitates cross-border information exchange on match-fixing cases.

The group brings together representatives from the Ministry of Sport, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Justice and the Federal Police and it’s yet to deliver a report with proposals and action plans.
Brazil has been at the center of international match-fixing concerns as several players have been accused of fraud in sports, including Flamengo striker Bruno Henrique, who was indicted over allegations of participating in a betting scheme during a Brazilian Championship match.
Another case saw a Juventude player who had a search warrant on his locker.
