Cache Creek Casino Resort unveils $180m hotel expansion
Tribal facility in Northern California taps local agrarian landscape for interior design.
The Cache Creek Casino Resort in Brooks, California, on Friday revealed the details of the recent $180m expansion to its hotel.
Cache Creek is owned and operated by Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation. It is located approximately 50 miles northwest of Sacramento.
The new, 450,000-square foot, 459-room hotel is in the Capay Valley, where the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation produces its own wines, olive oil, honey, almonds and other agricultural products.
The expansion also included new entertainment and event amenities, a landscaped resort pool and a full-service spa, officials said.
Nathan Peak, AIA, Design Director at HBG Design, said the exterior design fits with its “idyllic setting” and is a “fresh take” on the California Mission-style aesthetic.
The interior of the hotel was inspired by characteristics of the Capay Valley that are experienced during the four distinct seasons in the area, explained Emily Marshall, IIDA, Interior Design Director at HBG Design.
“Interiors draw heavily from the region’s agrarian landscape using organic and textural materials and patterns to connect the new resort hotel to the heart of the valley and its abundant agriculture,” Marshall said in a statement. “The guest experience relates beautifully to the region’s unique sense of place.”
For example, Marshall said the lobby bar/lounge area incorporates maroon hues accented by honey golden tones and frenzied hive patterns to symbolize the honeybee and its agricultural significance to the valley.
The resort’s restaurants use colors and textures ranging from almond blossoms to vineyards, she added.
