As part of the Reparation Agreements promoted by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Gambling (FEJA), Buenos Aires City Lottery (LOTBA) held a new training session for influencers and public figures who had been reported for promoting unlicensed online gambling platforms on their social media accounts.
The first course was held in July, alongside a video that was released on social media aimed at raising awareness on gambling, legal sites and gambling addiction.
The program, carried out in collaboration with FEJA, focused on outlining the risks of unregulated gambling and the importance of supporting legal alternatives as a way to prevent underage gambling.
According to LOTBA, the initiative is part of a broader set of measures aimed at addressing illegal gambling activity in Buenos Aires.
During the session, officials provided information about the dangers associated with unauthorized platforms, explained the regulator’s role within the City and presented guidelines on responsible gambling.
Good to know: The role of influencers in gambling promotion is currently under public discussion in Argentina. Influencer Agustina Cabaleiro recently weighed in on the issue on a YouTube video
So far, 23 influencers and celebrities have completed the course. In addition, LOTBA has sent 93 formal notices and filed 22 complaints related to unlicensed physical gambling operations.
The regulator also relaunched the campaign “To speak is to win,” which seeks to encourage dialogue and awareness to prevent minors from accessing online gambling platforms.
