The government of Mexico has officially joined the National Lottery’s special draw “Mexico with an M for Migrant” (México con M de Migrante), which will take place on September 15 at 4 p.m.
The initiative recognizes Mexican migrants who support their families and communities from abroad, with a single ticket offering a chance to win up to MXN25.5m ($1,42m)
Olivia Salomón, director general of the National Lottery, highlighted that President Sheinbaum has designated that the funds raised from the draw, after awarding prizes, will be used to strengthen consular support and protection for Mexicans living abroad in times of uncertainty.
A total of four million tickets will be distributed across borders, symbolically “traveling as embraces” on September 15, coinciding with Mexico’s Independence Day and the start of Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States.
Nelly Minerva Carrasco Godínez, Secretary of Culture and Tourism of the State of Mexico, emphasized the state’s support, noting that the draw strengthens consular services and provides social protection for Mexicans living outside the country.

She highlighted that the initiative honors migrants who have contributed to their families, communities, municipalities, and the nation, even from afar.
The presentation in Tonatico brought together around 200 participants, including Salomón and the town’s mayor, César Fuentes Domínguez. Salomón noted that this is the first government-backed lottery with a specific social cause, connecting Mexicans in the country with their migrant compatriots abroad.
