Argentina: Chubut launches Betwarrior as legal online betting platform

Key Points
- The launch was led by Ramiro Ibarra, Head of the Social Institute of Assistance and José María Amondaraín, Country Manager of Betwarrior Argentina
- Betwarrior is already operational in Buenos Aires, Mendoza, La Rioja and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires
- The platform aims to combat illegal gambling by ensuring minors cannot access it and that betting traffic is regulated and secure
The Argentinian province of Chubut has become the fifth province in Argentina to implement Betwarrior as a legal operator.
The launch was led by Ramiro Ibarra, Head of the Social Institute of Assistance, who also promoted the initiative through Lotería del Chubut, which has been actively working to control illegal gambling activities. José María Amondaraín, Country Manager of Betwarrior Argentina, also joined the event.
During the event, the application’s features were presented, and Chubut was highlighted as the latest province to adopt this system. Betwarrior is already available in Buenos Aires, Mendoza, La Rioja and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
The provincial regulator informed that access to the platform requires users to be over 18 years old and to complete a biometric verification process, one of the core features of the system. With this launch, Chubut offers residents a new, regulated option for participating in online betting, strengthening the oversight and safety of gaming in the province.
Ibarra emphasized that the presentation is part of an ongoing effort involving education, health, legislators and the justice system. He noted that new regulations were needed to address online gambling and its illegal counterparts.
He said, “A law was passed with broad support to regulate online betting, allowing a strategic partnership with Betwarrior, which already has a national presence in many provinces. It is significant for Chubut to have this platform.”
Good to know: Betwarrior currently sponsors the National Field Hockey team and the National Soccer Team, alongside Betano
He also highlighted the platform’s social impact, noting that legal online betting helps prevent underage participation, a key issue with illegal platforms.
Amondaraín said that, currently, around 80% of betting traffic in Argentina occurs through illegal channels, with less than 20% operating legally.
He added, “Illegal platforms allow minors to play and the revenue generated does not contribute to the province; it is not safe.”
My goal is to explain how gaming, esports, and betting intersect in ways that readers can actually understand, without stripping away the entertainment that makes the space compelling.
