Arizona regulator launches statewide consumer empowerment and protection campaign

Key Points
- The campaign will begin with PSAs, available in Spanish and English
- These announcements will be featured on radio, TV, digital and print media platforms
The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) has initiated a statewide public education campaign, with a focus on public awareness, protecting consumers and “reducing the harms associated with unregulated gambling.”
The ADG described this campaign as “a significant milestone” for its consumer protection and responsible gaming efforts and said it is the first program like this to be launched in the Grand Canyon State.
The campaign will begin with some public service announcements the ADG has developed in partnership with the Arizona Media Association. These will be available in Spanish and English and will run on various media outlets, including radio and television, along with print and digital platforms.
ADG Director Jackie Johnson commented, “We are proud to celebrate 30 years of providing world-class gaming regulation and consumer protection. This campaign is about empowering Arizonans who choose to participate in gaming with the knowledge to make informed, responsible decisions. As illegal and unregulated options on the market increase, the Check Your Bet webpage serves as a key resource for the public to verify licensed operators and access support.
“By directing viewers from our PSAs to this tool, we’re helping ensure people not only play safely, but also know where to turn if they or a loved one are struggling with problem gambling.”
Good to know: The ADG has served as the state’s gaming regulator since 1995
In other regulatory news, the ADG recently sent cease-and-desist letters to five operators for “illegally targeting Arizona residents.” These operators were both inside the US and aboard.
The regulator contacted ReBet, Novig, Dallas Safari Club, Fanthem, Stake.US, BettorEdge and High 5 and found these operators were conducting business without an Arizona gaming license.
These platforms offered several services but were doing so without going through the proper procedure.
