Coljuegos carries out operation targeting illegal gambling in Bogotá

Key Points
- Coljuegos seized 20 illegal electronic slot machines in Bogotá as part of its ongoing fight against illegal operators
- Police discovered narcotics being sold at these locations
- The illegal activity was withholding nearly COP 154m ($37,000) annually from Colombia’s healthcare system
Coljuegos, the Colombian regulator, has seized 20 illegal electronic slot machines operating in clandestine locations in the San Bernardo neighborhood, in downtown Bogotá.
With the support of the National Police and the Local Mayor’s Office of Santa Fe, the equipment was confiscated in three establishments that authorities had previously identified as locations where electronic slot machines were operating illegally.
In these locations, police uncovered both illegal gambling activities and narcotics sales. Additionally, during the operation, authorities implemented an institutional program to offer psychosocial support to vulnerable individuals.
Marco Emilio Hincapié, President of Coljuegos, said: “We will not stop our fight against illegal operators. We are reaching every corner of the capital and the country to seize the elements operating illegally and affecting the resources allocated to subsidized healthcare
“In total, these seized items were withholding nearly COP 154m annually from the healthcare system for Colombians. That is why we will continue to be relentless against the criminal structures funded by these activities.”
The institution has been working to fight against illegal gambling across the country. In February 2025, it blocked over 10,000 illegal gambling websites and social media profiles, marking the highest number of blocked portals in the entity’s history.
Good to know: Coljuegos recently announced that COP 2.4bn generated by the gambling sector will be allocated to subsidize public healthcare under the current Colombian Government
To this day, according to Coljuegos, 5,458 illegal gaming devices have been confiscated in departments such as Cundinamarca, Antioquia, Norte de Santander, Atlántico, Tolima, Cesar, Bolívar, among others.
Hincapié concluded: “We will continue taking action both in Bogotá and across the country, to protect and increase the funds transferred to the subsidized healthcare system for all Colombians.”
Odds tell a story long before the result does. When bettors learn to read that story properly, betting becomes a matter of discipline and value rather than emotion or guesswork.
