Final 4 Nations Face-Off game brings in record bets

A recent hockey matchup between Canada and the US has generated record betting action for a single-game event, according to a recent Associated Press report.
The Canadian team claimed victory in overtime during the championship game of the 4 Nations Face-Off last week. The final score was 3-2.
According to the AP, sports betting activity was high throughout the tournament as well.
Caesars head of hockey Karry Shreeve told the Associated Press that activity during Game 7 was what the sportsbook had expected.
He commented, “A Game 7 atmosphere and style of play is what we anticipated, and it was exactly what we got in every which way.
“Customers were all over the USA out of the gates, especially when they went down 1-0 and were around +150 to bet on to win. … The betting only ramped up when the game did go to OT, proving everyone was locked in until the very end.”
BetMGM reported that five of the games “were among the seven most wagered-on hockey games of the season.”
BetMGM Trading Manager Halvor Egeland said in a statement, “The 4 Nations tournament was a great success for BetMGM. Canada winning was a good outcome for the sportsbook.”
The operator recently reported a net revenue of $2.1bn during 2024, reflecting 7% year-over-year growth.
BetMGM posted growth in both its iGaming and online sports segments as well.
During the fiscal year, online sports revenue totaled $554m and rose by 4% when compared to results from the previous year.
iGaming revenue for the year reached an all-time high last year for BetMGM. The company posted $1.5bn in iGaming net revenue during 2024, up 13% year-over-year.
