AGA: US commercial gaming revenue reaches $17.71bn for Q3

In total, 29 of the 35 commercial gaming jurisdictions operational last year saw an increase in revenue.

The American Gaming Association (AGA) has unveiled its Q3 report covering commercial gaming gross gaming revenue (GGR) in the US.
In total, US commercial gaming revenue during the quarter reached $17.71bn, representing an increase of 8.1% year-on-year, and making Q3 2024 the industry’s 15th consecutive quarter of annual revenue growth.
The AGA has also stated that this figure is the highest Q3 total revenue it has ever recorded, with strong growth experienced in sports betting and iGaming.
Looking at the individual verticals, traditional casino still of course made up the bulk of the gaming revenue at $12.38bn, but this was a fall of 0.9% when compared to the same period last year.
On the other hand, sports betting GGR was up 42.4% to $3.24bn, while iGaming GGR experienced a rise of 30.3% to $2.08bn.
Only six states experienced a decline year-on-year, namely New Mexico, Florida, Missouri, Mississippi, Nevada and Iowa, with 29 of the 35 commercial gaming jurisdictions operational last year seeing an rise, most seen in the District of Columbia which saw growth of 426.7%.

AGA Vice President of Research David Forman said: “Q3 2024 continued gaming’s momentum from the first half of the year, with online casino and sports betting driving strong growth.
“At the same time, new brick-and-mortar casino openings bolstered traditional gaming, which still accounts for the bulk of industry revenue.
“More than a quarter of commercial revenue now regularly comes from online sources, raising the importance of continued sustainable growth with consumers in those states.”
