Rivers Casino Pittsburgh resumes operations with protocols in place
Resort had been shut down for three weeks per governor’s orders
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh said it resumed operations Monday at 8 a.m. Eastern Time, after a three-week, year-end shutdown that was ordered by Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf.
Casino officials emphasized their continued focus on safety, and the fact reopening returns approximately 1,086 employees to their jobs. At full employment, the casino has 1,320 team members.
The gaming floor will be open 24/7, with amended hours for indoor dining and capacity restrictions not to exceed 50% property wide. Rivers Casino said air filtration technology from airPHX and AtmosAir runs property wide every day, continuously disinfecting surfaces and indoor air.
COVID-19 health and safety protocols will remain in place, including masks or approved face-coverings, temperature checks, and social distancing for guests and team members, with no exceptions.
The casino said it will ask team members to continue to complete daily COVID-19 self-assessments, which officials said have proven effective in preventing individuals who may have been exposed to the virus elsewhere from entering the property.
“We especially want to thank our team members, guests and the Pittsburgh community for their support throughout 2020,” Rivers Casino General Manager Bill Keena said in a statement. “We have every reason to expect 2021 will be a better year, and by continuing our focus on safety, we are looking forward to a healthy, Happy New Year for all.”
Rivers Casino said it follows best practices from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and “meets or exceeds” all COVID-19 Casino Reopening Protocols announced by the PGCB. It also adheres to all guidelines issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and meets all operating requirements set by the Allegheny County Health Department.
