AGA survey says majority of Americans view legalized gambling as ‘acceptable entertainment’
Three out of four said they feel the industry is acting responsibly in their community.
The American Gaming Association (AGA) has published recent consumer survey results that suggest how US players are responding to casino gaming and sports betting.
Nine out of 10 Americans said they view sports betting “as an acceptable form of entertainment.”
The recent study revealed that “Americans are increasingly embracing casino gaming and sports betting as acceptable forms of entertainment and responsible industries.”
During the past six years, more than 35 states have legalized sports wagering following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn a previously established nationwide ban.
Of the total surveyed, 75% of Americans said they “believe the gaming industry behaves responsibly in the communities where it operates.” The same percentage said they support having a legal sports wagering market in their home state.
AGA SVP, Strategic Communications Joe Maloney outlined the results in more detail by saying, “These latest survey results highlight a consistent trend over the years: as gaming expands to new audiences, Americans increasingly see the benefits of a legal, regulated gaming marketplace that contributes to communities, prioritizes responsibility and provides unmatched entertainment.”
The AGA published the study ahead of this year’s Responsible Gaming Education Month, which will kick off in September.
Maloney went on to add that he believes players are paying more attention to the industry’s commitment to encouraging responsible play.
He said in closing, “The gaming industry’s responsibility efforts are stronger than ever, and consumers are noticing.
“As we embark on another Responsible Gaming Education Month, we’re more energized than ever to continue our work to give consumers the legal, safe and fun gaming experiences that they want and deserve.”
