Louisiana becomes 22nd state to offer Fanatics sportsbook
The sportsbook had most recently debuted in Wyoming back in May of this year.
Fanatics Betting and Gaming has announced the official launch of the Fanatics sportsbook in the state of Louisiana beginning August 15. Fanatics Betting and Gaming is a subsidiary of the Fanatics Holding Group, and now operates its sportsbook platform in 22 states across the country.
Fanatics sportsbook debuts in Louisiana through a partnership with the Boomtown Casino & Hotel.
Most recently on May 29, Fanatics had also launched its sportsbook in the state of Wyoming, with potential consumers now able to download the sportsbook app and place wagers across different markets.
Retail sports betting in Louisiana had originally launched in October 2021, followed by the debut of mobile sports betting shortly after in January 2022. The state currently hosts two professional sports teams including the New Orleans Saints football team and New Orleans Pelicans basketball team.
On April 4, Fanatics also announced that its acquisition of PointsBet US had been officially completed for a total of $225m.
“The acquisition of the US businesses of PointsBet has super charged our expansion plans. In addition to our migration of PointsBet customers and technology to the Fanatics sportsbook and casino platform, we have also added an incredibly talented team of passionate leaders from the ranks of PointsBet USA that have already made an impact on our business,” Fanatics Betting and Gaming CEO Matt King said at the time of announcement.
With the finalization of the transaction, over 200 PointsBet staff joined the Fanatics Betting and Gaming team, with Mark Hughes and Aonghus Mulvihill from PointsBet US also becoming part of the executive leadership. Fanatics Betting and Gaming took over the lease of the company’s offices in Denver and Dublin, Ireland as well.
