Atlantic City holding auction for Trump Plaza implosion button push

Boys & Girls Club to benefit from sale that officials hope will fetch $1m.
People can bid to be the one to implode Trump Plaza in Atlantic City early in 2021.
City officials recently posted a listing on LiveAuctioneers.com seeking to sell the right to push a button to start the implosion. The auction will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, and the winner can choose to initiate the process either remotely or, as promoters say, “as close to the Plaza as we can safely get you there!”
The former casino property on the Atlantic City Boardwalk has been closed since 2014.
Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small told the Associated Press he hopes to raise more than $1 million via the auction. LiveAuctioneers.com has an estimated price of up to $500,000.
Live bidding will commence at 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on 19 January, 2021. The implosion will take place sometime in February.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to bid on the right to push the button to implode Trump Plaza, Atlantic City, NJ,” text from the listing spells out. “For several years it has been sitting empty and now is the time to end an era and replace it with something new.”
