RSI affirms its ‘customer first’ approach, opts not to implement player surcharge

Its CEO said the decision was an easy one, which is an opposite approach to that of DraftKings.
Rush Street Interactive (RSI) has announced that the operator will not institute a customer surcharge. The company said it will continue to take a customer-centric approach by “reaffirming its dedication to providing exceptional value to its players.”
RSI’s decision follows a recent DraftKings announcement, stating that the operator will begin implementing a surcharge on high-wager winnings in four states. Starting January 1, players in states with a tax rate that is 20% or higher would be subject to an additional surcharge.
The DraftKings’ changes will affect players within the New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Vermont markets.
However, RSI CEO Richard Schwartz noted that the company’s decision to avoid adding a surcharge reflects its desire to maintain a player-first focus.
He commented, “As we put our customers first, it was an easy decision for us. RSI remains committed to maintaining its leadership position in the industry by continuously prioritizing the needs and preferences of its players.
“We believe that RSI’s focus on customer satisfaction, coupled with its innovative rewards and loyalty programs, sets a benchmark for excellence in the online gaming industry.”
RSI serves as an online casino and sports betting company throughout Canada, the US and in Latin America. It offers real-money mobile and online titles in several US states.
The online gaming and sports entertainment company has broadened its North American market reach to include Ontario, Canada, as well as in Colombia and Mexico.
The company first entered the Colombian market in 2018 and established its presence in Mexico in 2022.
RSI currently operates several brands that include BetRivers, PlaySugarHouse and RushBet.
