TheLotter Leaving New York Two Months After Announcing NJ Exit
TheLotter US announced Tuesday that it will suspend its operations in New York, as the company continues to focus on expanding services across other U.S. states as part of its long-term growth strategy.
The digital lottery courier service is also ending its operations in the Empire State just two months after it confirmed its exit from the neighboring New Jersey market.
When Is TheLotter Leaving New York
TheLotter will stop accepting orders in the New York market on Jan. 29.
Jessica Griggs, TheLotter US Head of Marketing, said this “difficult decision” will enable the company to better allocate resources and support its long-term nationwide expansion strategy, per the news release.
“While we are proud to have served players in New York, this strategic shift enables us to focus on markets where we can grow more efficiently and deliver the best possible experience,” Griggs continued. “By concentrating our efforts, we’re positioning ourselves for sustainable expansion across the country.”
Any existing orders, Multi-Draw packages, or draws from a Subscription scheduled after that date will be canceled and fully refunded.
Deadline For Players To Withdraw Account Funds
Registered New York players have already been notified of these changes and informed that they will be able to withdraw any remaining account funds through April 29.
TheLotter added in its news release that players who miss this deadline will be able to contact their customer service team for further assistance.
In addition to leaving New York, TheLotter said its new website, which was “designed to support growth and enhance the player experience,” has received positive feedback from players.
Key platform enhancements include:
- Faster performance and ultra-responsive design
- A more streamlined lottery purchasing experience
- An improved user interface (UI)
- An upgraded personal area
Lottery Courier Service Now Limited To Three States
New York regulates lottery couriers and requires companies to be licensed.
In June 2024, TheLotter entered the market as the state’s fourth approved lottery courier after receiving a license by the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC).
With the New York exit, TheLotter will soon have a presence in just three U.S. markets: Arizona, Oregon, and Minnesota. The service, however, is preparing for additional state launches in the future.
TheLotter US entered the Arizona market in March 2025.
New York and New Jersey are the only two states to regulate and license lottery couriers.
