Sports wagering and internet gaming showed growth, whereas land-based casinos didn't.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) has reported growth for its total February gaming revenue from its casinos, racetracks and their partners.

The total amassed was $461.5m in February, a 12% increase year-over-year.

This now means total gaming revenue has already surpassed the $1bn mark in 2024 for New Jersey, whereas last year after the first two months total gaming revenue had only reached $849.1m.

Looking closer at the numbers, casino revenue represented the largest percentage of the state’s revenue for the month but was the only one of the three main verticals to see a drop in revenue. Casino revenue was $211.6m in February, a 1.6% fall year-over-year, with both slot machine revenue and table game revenue seeing decreases.

Internet gaming was the vertical that saw the largest rise when compared with the same period in 2023, as it grew 27.9% to a figure of $182.3m, with other authorized games going up by $39.7m.

Sports wagering revenue also continued to record positive numbers as it climbed 23.7%, being valued at $67.6m for the second month of 2024.

OF casino licensees, Borgata had the largest total gaming revenue at $98.1m, but that did represent a 3.1% decrease. At 49.7%, Resorts Digital saw the largest increase in total gaming revenue, to a figure of $72.3m.
