The state of Wisconsin will move one step closer to gaining a Kenosha casino. The Kenosha City Council majority recently voted in favor of a recommendation to forward an intergovernmental agreement between the city and the Menominee Gaming Authority, according to a Kenosha News local report.
The duo plans to develop a casino hotel that will offer restaurants and other amenities. However, the plan must be voted on for final approval during a meeting set for later this month. The City Council voted to send up plans for final consideration in a 12 to 3 vote.
The Menominee Tribe signed a deal last year to partner with Hard Rock International and relaunch plans for the Tribe to open a casino and entertainment center on Kenosha’s west side.
Under the terms of the deal, the Tribe would own both the casino and other related facilities. Hard Rock would be responsible for developing and managing the proposed project.
The new facility would sit on 60 acres.
Once completed, the new casino will be home to 70,000 square feet of gaming space, which will feature 55 table games and 1,500 slot machines. Another 25,000 square feet will be available for administration space near the back of the location.
The casino will also offer its guests 28,800 square feet of space set aside for dining options that will include a Hard Rock Café, an Asian restaurant, a steakhouse and marketplace buffet.
In other Wisconsin news, Oneida Nation Chairman Tehassi Hill and Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach signed the 15-year deal, which “recognizes the services each of the governments provides.”
