Florida’s Seminole Tribe ready for December debut of sports betting, roulette and craps

The Tribal owner and operator of six Florida casinos has made plans based on a gaming compact expansion originally approved in 2021.

The Seminole Tribe of Florida has announced that it will launch sports betting, craps and roulette at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino this December. Several years in the making, the original gaming compact allowing the Tribe to expand its gaming offerings was signed in 2021, and Hard Rock is calling this "A New Era in Florida Gaming."

Jim Allen, CEO of Seminole Gaming and Chairman of Hard Rock International said, “With the expansion of the new scope, we are creating over 1,000 new jobs made possible by the Compact. This is a historic milestone that immediately puts Florida in the same league with the world's great gaming destinations."

Just last week, the Biden administration called for the Supreme Court to uphold an appeals court decision regarding sports betting in the state of Florida. West Flagler Associates pursued a rehearing of the case, but it was not heard, even after a lawsuit was filed.

Now, the Tribe is able to offer retail sports betting, as well as provide craps and roulette tables for its casino patrons at six venues. Online sports betting has no launch date set at this time.

Thursday December 7 will kick off the new offerings at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Seminole Classic Casino in Hollywood and Seminole Casino in Coconut Creek. Friday December 8 will be the launch date at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa, and Monday December 11 will see the new offerings launch at Seminole Casino Immokalee and Seminole Brighton Casino.

Chairman of the Seminole Tribe, Marcellus Osceola Jr, said, “The Seminole Tribe thanks the State of Florida, the US Department of the Interior and the US Department of Justice for defending our Compact.  By working together, the Tribe, the State and the federal government achieved a historic legal victory.”

Celebrations are planned for all six Seminole casinos, which will include celebrity appearances.
