
The Illinois Gaming Board has published its casino figures for the month of September. The state’s 15 land-based casinos brought in a total adjusted gross receipts amount of $132.1m during the month.
Rivers Casino led the pack last month, taking in a total of nearly $41.5m in adjusted gross receipts. Other heavy hitters in September were Grand Victoria Casino and Harrah's Joliet Casino & Hotel, which brought in revenue totals of $12.4m and $10.9m respectively.
The state’s casinos earned a combined total of nearly $29.9m from table games during the month of September and contributed $32.7m in state taxes. Illinois’ casinos paid out another $7.9m in local taxes.
EGDs during the month of September earned $102.3m in combined revenue throughout Illinois’ casinos. Rivers Casino grabbed the top spot as the highest earner for both EGDs and for table games in September.
The newly opened Bally’s Chicago raked in nearly $6.7m in revenue last month. The temporary Chicago casino at Medinah Temple welcomed its first guests on September 9. Bally’s said Medinah Temple will function as a temporary casino during the next few years until construction on a permanent casino is completed.
Bally’s said it anticipates opening a permanent Chicago casino by 2026. The new venue will be home to 4,000 gaming positions, as well as to an exhibition hall, 500-room hotel, a 3,000-seat theater and 10 restaurants.
In other Rivers Casino news, the group, along with its parent company Rush Street Gaming, will host “Rivers Gives Day of Service 2023,” a synchronized community celebration at its multiple casino locations on October 17.
More than 6,000 team members from the company’s five Pennsylvania, Illinois, New York and Virginia locations have committed to participate in the multi-site event.
