FanDuel beats out Caesars for sportsbook at DC United's Audi Field

FanDuel has agreed to a multi-year partnership with Major League Soccer’s D.C. United that includes the opening of a retail sportsbook at Audi Field in 2021.

D.C. United and Audi Field were originally supposed to partner with Caesars for a sportsbook but the plan apparently fell through. Caesars sponsored the soccer club this past season.

Instead, the club is joining forces with FanDuel, who is seeking to bring sports betting to its 20th US jurisdiction.

Matt King, CEO, FanDuel Group, said, “As we continue to expand our nationwide footprint, joining forces with one of the MLS’ most iconic clubs allows us to bring America’s #1 Sportsbook to the nation’s capital. We’re partnering with D.C. United to elevate the fan experience at Audi Field and bring the DMV area an in-person sports gaming experience other parts of the US have come to know and love from FanDuel.”

The FanDuel Sportsbook will be held in one of Audi Field’s club areas and will operate 365 days of the year. FanDuel is waiting on regulatory approval from the DC Lottery.

Sam Porter, Chief Strategy Officer of D.C. United, said, “D.C. United is looking forward to the opportunity of working with a first-rate operator in this new and exciting space. The FanDuel Sportsbook is best-in-class and we believe their expertise, technology, and product will provide our fans, guests at Audi Field, and the Buzzard Point neighborhood a full-slate of entertainment options.”
