Its first full-service casino celebrated a solid month of operation during February.

The state of Virginia has released its casino revenue results for February. During the month, casinos statewide raked in a total of $38.4m in adjusted gaming revenue, according to figures posted by PlayVirginia.com.

Last month’s revenue is the highest Virginia’s casinos have contributed to date.

Rivers Casino Portsmouth contributed a full month of earnings to the state’s total. The state’s newest gaming facility and first full-service casino chipped in $24.7m to the combined total during February.

The other heavy hitter was Bristol Casino – Future Home of Hard Rock, which added its $13.7m to the state’s casino gaming revenue total for February. The temporary casino first opened its doors last summer.

PlayVirginia noted that casino revenue numbers remain steady and attributed the surge in growth to the Rivers Casino Portsmouth opening.

Slot machine revenue during February reflected similar upward trends. Virginia surpassed its previous slot revenue milestone during the month, with a combined total of $28.3m from both casinos.

In a breakdown by facility, Portsmouth chipped in $17.1m in slot revenue, and Bristol contributed $11.2m. According to PlayVirginia’s figures, the state beat its previous revenue high in February by nearly $10m.

Table game revenue more than doubled between January and February. Virginia’s casinos blew past the January record and ended the month of February with more than $10m in table game revenue. Portsmouth and Bristol raked in table game revenues of $7.5m and $2.5m respectively.

During February, Virginia’s casino paid out more than $6.9m in taxes to the state. Nearly 2% of the total tax dollars contributed were allocated to the state’s family and children’s trust fund.
