In this role, Garland will focus on talent acquisition and retention, among other personnel matters.

Scientific Games has appointed Mona Garland as its chief human resources officer (CHRO), a role that will involve her joining the company’s executive team.

This team’s responsibilities and personnel have expanded and evolved since the company's sale to Brookfield Business Partners in April 2022 from Light & Wonder.

As CHRO, Garland will lead the company’s global people strategy, along with employee-focused programs and initiatives. Her focus will now be on talent acquisition and retention, diversity, learning and development, equity and inclusion, compensation and benefits, employee engagement and workplace culture.

This will be a large undertaking for Garland, as Scientific Games has 3,000 employees who are located across over 40 technology and operational centers, production facilities, game design studios and offices.

The supplier is still looking to expand its customer base, with its operations already spanning six continents and encompassing 130 clients and 20 lottery clients.

SC CEO Pat McHugh commented: “Our people are our greatest asset in serving our customers. Mona is a dynamic leader with a passion for coaching and developing talent to evolve organizations.

“We look forward to the tremendous impact she and our human resources team will have on our current employees, as well as expanding and further diversifying our workforce for the continued growth of our global business.”

Based in Atlanta for this job, Garland brings more than 25 years of experience in human resources strategies, programs and infrastructure. Her expertise lies in developing engaging and retaining talent to ensure business success at global organizations such as General Electric and Brambles.
