Cumulus Media, a US broadcasting company, has launched 810 The Spread, a radio station that offers listeners throughout the San Francisco Bay Area sports betting news and insights.
The company determined Bay Area bettors have been “underserved,” a major motivation for debuting the new station.
Kevin Graham, Program Director for 810 The Spread, said the station is excited to offer sports betting programming to Southern California bettors and hopes fans embrace the new direction.
Graham commented: “While 810 The Spread will feature specific gambling information, we believe our entertaining presentation will make it a favorite for all Bay Area sports fans and a perfect complement to the legendary KNBR and KTCT.”
Programming on The Spread will consist of “behind-the-book” perspectives from Joe Ostrowski and Jim Rome, who are considered experts in their field, as well as five shows that covered a range of topics from wagering tips to sports radio.
The programs will air daily between the hours of 6am until midnight.
Cumulus San Francisco Vice President/Market Manager Larry Blumhagen said: “810 The Spread joins our sports brands KNBR 680AM/104.5FM and 1050 KTCT for a trifecta of dynamic sports content across four signals and streaming everywhere.
“We are excited about this new chapter and look forward to serving the Bay Area’s passionate sports fans in an incomparable way.”
Talk Radio KGO-AM aired for 80 years on the 810 AM frequency prior to the launch of the new station. Blumhagen said ending the previous KGO program was “bittersweet” but acknowledged the time for change was inevitable.
He commented: “It’s hard to say goodbye to the legendary KGO, which has been a part of listeners’ lives for so many years.
“We want to thank all the people who have been a part of KGO’s historic run these many years – and the listeners who loyally tuned in to the station. Times change, and we must change with them.”
