Sycuan Casino Resort has been recognized as the 2022 Corporate Hero, an award bestowed by the American Red Cross during its 20th Annual Real Heroes Awards ceremony.
Real Heroes Awards honors both local organizations and individuals that “embody the mission and spirit of the Red Cross by saving lives and creating safer, stronger and more resilient communities.”
The casino resort has been a long-time supporter of the Red Cross and hosted safety training and disaster relief events as part of its ongoing partnership with the organization.
Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation Chairman, Cody Martinez, elaborated about the work the Tribe has done as a Red Cross supporter.
He commented: “It is a great honor for Sycuan to be recognized as this year’s Corporate Hero. Sycuan has been a proud supporter of the American Red Cross for nearly 20 years. Throughout the years, we have partnered on many essential initiatives including disaster preparedness and response, CPR training and safety expos.”
Martinez went on to add that Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation has no intention of stopping its partnership with the non-profit.
He said: “We look forward to continuing to collaborate with the American Red Cross and thank them for their unwavering commitment to our community and providing essential services that save lives year after year.”
During this year’s ceremony, seven other San Diego residents received awards acknowledging their contributions to the community. Among those recognized were: Barbara Fry (Animal Welfare Hero), Alan Lewis (Gift of Life Hero) and Cale Foy (Disaster Services Hero).
American Red Cross Southern California Regional CEO, Sean Mahoney, commended those awarded and noted the contributions they have made.
Mahoney commented: “Each of this year’s honorees has gone above and beyond to help their community, and even to save lives. We are thrilled to recognize them for their courage, compassion, and community impact.”
