The resort will add rooms, upgrade existing space and renovate existing landscaping.

Michigan’s Bay Mills Resort & Casino has announced that it will break ground next spring on its $65m expansion project. Upgrades to the casino will include additional space and new amenities for its guests.

The three-story waterfront property in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula will gain 134 balcony rooms, a fitness center, a spa with massage therapy rooms, a deli, a pool with splash pad, hot tubs, fitness center and nail station, as well as a storefront, conference space and arcade. Bay Mills Resort & Casino will also give its exterior a facelift by adding additional gardens, outdoor patios, new fishing piers and marina upgrades.

Bay Mills Resort & Casino General Manager Richard LeBlanc said: “Bay Mills Resort & Casino is well loved by its visitors. This expansion will allow us to take things one step further to meet the needs of our guests, while also providing them with a one-of-a-kind experience on Lake Superior.”

Bay Mills was built in 1995 and is owned by the Bay Mills Indian Community (BMIC). The current resort is home to two restaurants, a golf course, gift shop, hotel and RV-Park, as well as a gaming floor that offers players access to eight table games and more than 600 slot machines.

BMIC President Whitney Gravelle said the renovations are part of a strategic plan for the tribe to gain a larger footprint within the region.

Gravelle commented: “Bay Mills Indian Community has long been a leader in Indian Country. Expanding our enterprise operations will allow us to continue to grow and become the number one destination in the Upper Peninsula. I’m so proud of our team and our tribal nation for this achievement.”
