A multi-year agreement between MGM Resorts and MLB Players Inc. has been announced, making MGM Resorts an official partner of the Major League Baseball Players Association.
The agreement will give MLB Players Inc. the use of MLB Players' branding and group marketing rights. In return, MLB players will receive hospitality benefits with MGM Resorts' properties serving as the host location for a variety of MLB player-related events.
Senior Vice President of Sports & Sponsorships at MGM Resorts, Lance Evans commented: "This new partnership strengthens our commitment to the sport of baseball in the US and around the globe."
Evans continued: "We welcome the opportunity to host MLB Players at our world-class resorts and create unique player experiences for our valued MGM Rewards members."
Terms of the agreement include allowing MGM Resorts the rights to use players in a wide range of print and digital promotions, advertisements and sweepstakes in the US, China and Japan.
MGM Resorts will also become a participating partner of MLB Players, Inc.'s Players House hospitality space at each season's All-Star Game. The resort will become an "Official Offseason Destination" via incentives offered to players that stay at resort properties.
Major League Baseball Players Association Chief Operating Officer Xavier D. James added: "As a leader in the gaming and hospitality industry, MGM Resorts is an ideal business partner for us. This collaboration reinforces the importance of leveraging players to facilitate marketing initiatives."
The partnership will also see players earn opportunities to enter individual ambassador agreements to promote MGM Resorts. They can do this through various appearances, social media posts, autographed memorabilia and advertisements.
Managing Director Evan Kaplan of MLB Players, Inc said: "This agreement puts Major League Baseball Players in partnership with a company that is synonymous with best-in-class hotels and entertainment."
The Major League Baseball Players Association is the collective bargaining representative for all professional baseball players of the thirty MLB teams.
