OLG signs multi-year agreement with Major League Baseball
This is the first Canadian partnership for MLB.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has partnered with Major League Baseball (MLB) through a multi-year agreement. OLG’s Proline sportsbook will become an official betting partner with MLB.
Up to now, MLB has never formed a Canadian sports betting partnership.
Under the terms of the agreement, both the Proline retail product and its digital sports betting platform will be featured at retail lottery outlets across the province of Ontario. OLG will have distribution rights to official MBL logos and will be able to create cross-promotional content on the league’s social media and digital platforms.
MLB Executive Vice President, Business Development Kenny Gersh said: “As we continue exploring additional avenues to engage our fans around the world through sports betting, we need to find creative, knowledgeable partners in their respective regions.
“With OLG, we have a trusted partner in Ontario with a vision to help us grow.”
Proline+ was Ontario’s first legal sportsbook property and was released in the province during August of last year. Since then, Canadian players have been able to place wagers on American sports leagues, college teams and on a variety of European sports.
OLG Chief Digital and Strategy Officer Dave Pridmore commented: “Teaming up with a world-class organization like the MLB enables OLG to create exciting, one-of-a-kind interactive experiences for baseball fans at the game and on PROLINE+.”
OLG also recently formed a multi-year partnership with the National Hockey League (NHL). Its PROLINE+ sportsbook was designated as the NHL’s official sports betting partner as part of the agreement.
This was the NHL’s first Canadian partnership.
OLG has offered support to various causes in Ontario since 1975. It has donated almost $55bn over the years to aid in healthcare, to support amateur athletes and to aid in the treatment and prevention of problem gambling.
The organization recently partnered with Black Talent Initiative (BTI) to increase black representation among workers and aid in their professional growth.
