Penn National Gaming has published its 2021 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report, which reflects the company’s efforts to support various charities, boost company morale, foster diversity, care for the environment and encourage responsible gambling. The company released the report to its shareholders as an update on its progress during the past year.
Some highlights from the report include several charitable contributions. Penn National gave more than $7m during 2021 to aid in Covid-19 and hurricane relief efforts and launched its Myheroes rewards program, designed for veterans, active-duty service members and first responders. The company reported reaching 100,000 enrollees through the newly created program.
Penn contributed in multiple ways to support equity among its employees, as well as those in the community. The company donated more than $4m in funding toward a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic Scholarship Program, partnering with Historically Black Colleges and Universities in states where Penn operates.
Penn also dedicated $1m toward its annual Diversity Scholarship Program, designed to benefit children of its team members.
The CSR report reflected the company’s efforts to address environmental issues as well. According to the report, the company reduced annual Kwh consumption by 10%, which is equivalent to eliminating 45,000 tons of greenhouse gas.
Penn has recently activated Have A Game Plan in all of Penn National’s brick-and-mortar sportsbook locations. It promotes Have A Game Plan responsible sports betting content on its Barstool Sportsbook digital platforms and social media accounts.
