FanDuel and TSN agree to a multi-year deal to produce betting-focused content
Canadian telecom company, BCE, plans to introduce audiences to newly-legal bets on individual games and events.
The FanDuel Group, a company owned by Ireland-based Flutter Entertainment, has entered a multi-year deal with the TSN sports network. The announcement came on Monday after Ontario opened its online sports betting market to private competition.
FanDuel began operating and accepting wagers on the first day of the market opening on April 4. The agreement between FanDuel and TSN is to provide betting-focused content to audiences for individual games and events.
During a press conference, TSN Senior Vice-President Stewart Johnston stated, “Combining their sportsbook with our expansive portfolio of live sports properties will not only deliver the exciting content that our passionate fan base demands but will provide new opportunities to expand the TSN brand.”
The deal will also cement FanDuel as TSN’s official sportsbook partner across Canada, providing odds and original sports content across the network’s television and digital assets.
Dale Hooper, General Manager of FanDuel, said: “Partnering with Canada’s most iconic and trusted media company was integral to our strategy of delivering gaming content to passionate Canadian sports fans in the most entertaining and responsible way possible.”
The agreement also states that the content provided will include in-game broadcasts, digital marketing, mobile apps, and co-branding opportunities.
Hooper went on to state, “Bringing our industry-leading sportsbook platform to Canada is a watershed moment for FanDuel.”
TSN also plans to market FanDuel’s online gaming formats, including its Same Game Parlay™ bets, as well as its casino platform and free-to-play games.
Johnston said this about the partnership, “FanDuel is the undisputed leader in sports betting, and with the launch of sports betting in Canada they were the clear choice for us as a sportsbook partner.”
