Mohegan Sun appoints new Chief Legal Officer

Raymond Lin comes to the role from a background of private equity law.

Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment has added new personnel to its roster after the group announced the appointment of Raymond Lin as a Chief Legal Officer. In his new role, Lin’s remit will be to develop the company’s legal and compliance strategy.

Lin will answer directly to group CEO Ray Pineault. He has been tasked with further fortifying the legal strategy of the Uncasville, Connecticut-based company that runs several casinos across the world.

The legal matters that Mohegan Sun faces are similar to those facing any major casino and hospitality operation: issues surrounding regulation, ironing out the details of commercial transactions, and helping define operational and legal strategy.

Prior to coming on board, Lin was a Partner at Latham & Walkins, the major multi-national law firm. While there, he helped lead the private equity practice group while representing a number of players in that industry.

Before Latham & Watkins, he was at Davis, Polk & Wardwell and, prior to that, worked as a Law Clerk at the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

His new boss commented on Lin’s arrival, Pineault saying: “We are pleased to welcome Ray Lin to our executive leadership team to ensure maximum protection of our legal rights and obligations across all of our properties.

“With more than 25 years of experience in the legal field representing both gaming and non-gaming transactions, Ray’s leadership and expertise will contribute to MGE’s continued growth and success.”

Mohegan Sun itself is looking at an interesting year: a new casino in Incheon, South Korea is currently under construction and expected to be finished in the near future.
