Company hopes to shore up its team as it expands to new markets.

Sightline Payments has welcomed some new arrivals to its senior staff: Shannon Nadeau will lead the company’s compliance department and Larry Whelan will lead its risk department.

Both have unimpeachable pedigrees in the industry and will be well-placed in furthering the development of the Las Vegas-based digital payment provider.

Sightline sees the new hires as a safe bet. As the Chief Legal Officer Jennifer Carlton commented: “The additions of Shannon Nadeau and Larry Whelan further bolster Sightline’s best-in-class efforts across risk, compliance and licensing. Their decades of gaming compliance enhances Sightline’s continued ability to offer payments innovations safely and securely.”

Nadeau’s official title will be Director of Regulatory and Licensing Compliance and her remit will be expanding its licensing process as the group aims to grow into new markets. Responsible gaming initiatives and compliance with regulators will also be a focus of hers.

Her most recent role was as Executive Director of Global Compliance at Wynn Resorts. In her two-decade career in the gaming industry, she has also worked with the Nevada Gaming Control Board, IGT and Shuffle Master. She attended University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), earning a bachelor’s degree in communications and criminal justice.

Nadeau commented on the importance of a role such as hers in the company: “As digital payment options become more prevalent in US casino, we must ensure regulators understand how payments fit within the broader gaming industry.”

For his part, Larry Whelan’s official title will as Director of Risk. His authority will extend to risk management, anti-money laundering, and the prevention of fraud. First and foremost in his job description is the monitoring of the millions of transactions which occur on Sightline’s platform every year.

His most recent role was as Interblock Gaming’s Vice President of Compliance. In three decades in the industry, he has worked at a large swathe of industry stalwarts, including Wynn Resorts, Penn National Gaming, Station Casinos, Caesars and MGM Resorts International. He, too, counts UNLV as an alma mater.

Commenting on the new role at the new company, Whelan had the following to say: “I’ve seen firsthand how Sightline’s innovations have modernized payments within the gaming industry and I’m thrilled to play an integral role in helping the company grow. I now enjoy a 360-degree view of risk and anti-money laundering in gaming, from the operator through the platform to the supplier.”
