Following a meeting of the Nueva Codere Board of Directors, the company has agreed on a proposal to appoint Christopher Bell as an Independent Director, acting as Non-Executive Chairman of the group. Bell has over three decades of experience in gaming, with his current role being the Chair of XLMedia.
While the decision has been confirmed by the company’s Board of Directors, it is still subject to approval from its shareholders. A meeting has been called for February 7, 2022 as the group looks to complete the construction of its executive board.
“Codere has demonstrated over the past 40 years its fundamental strength, versatility and leadership. It is exciting to be a part of this project and promote this new stage that the company has initiated, on its way back to a growth path and consolidation as a leading multinational in the private gambling industry,” noted Bell.
“I am truly honored for the trust placed in me and committed to the creation of value after this difficult period. The company has a management team and talent that will undoubtedly encourage its promising potential.”
With this appointment, Codere hopes Bell can bring with him his extensive knowledge of the gaming and sports betting industries and in turn, add value to the company.
From 1991 to 2010 Bell served at Ladbrokes, eventually joining its Board of Directors and then becoming CEO in 2006.
With this announcement, Bell is set to step away from his position at XLMedia to direct focus towards Codere.
