Roy Corby named general manager of Rivers Casino Portsmouth

Will bring 30 years of experience to the casino, which is set to open in 2023.

Rush Street Interactive has announced the appointment of a general manager for the soon-to-open Rivers Casino Portsmouth. Rob Corby will take on the role, bringing with him 30 years of experience in the gaming industry.

“I’m thrilled to bring Rush Street’s proven model of state-of-the-art gaming, superior guest experience, Team Member development and community partnership to Portsmouth and Hampton Roads,” said Corby. “I’ve seen firsthand the positive economic impact regional casinos have on their host cities, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Corby, who was recently assistant general manager at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh, held the role of senior vice president of operations for Global Gaming Solutions, before joining Rush Street.

Portsmouth’s new general manager was also property leader for Agua Resort and Casino in Palm Springs and Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque.

Rivers Casino Portsmouth, which is set to open in 2023, will be located on Victory Boulevard and feature a line up of slots, table games, poker, and a BetRivers Sportsbooks. Set to create 1,300 permanent jobs and 1,400 construction jobs, Rush Street claims the property will raise $16m in new annual taxes for Portsmouth.
