As vaccination rates rise and Covid-19 numbers fall, the province of Ontario is moving to lift restrictions on a number of leisure and entertainment venues, including casinos.
Per the terms of this change, casinos will require patrons to present proof of vaccination to enter gaming properties.
This law change will also apply to museums, galleries, places of worship, gyms and personal care settings. If these locations choose to avoid seeking proof of vaccination, restrictions will still be enforced.
These changes were announced and outlined by the region’s premier, Doug Ford, who described the plan as “super cautious”.
If all goes well and Covid-19 numbers continue to fall, proof of vaccination for restaurants, casinos, gyms and galleries will be lifted come January. However, all decisions are still dependent on the virus’ trends.
This is all part of Ontario’s road to reopen scheme. The initiative has been outlined to have four key steps:
Step one: An initial focus on resuming outdoor activities with smaller crowds where the risk of transmission is lower, and permitting limited indoor settings with restrictions.
Step two: Further expanding outdoor activities and resuming limited indoor services with small numbers of people and with face coverings being worn.
Step three: Expanding access to indoor settings, with restrictions, including where there are larger numbers of people and where face coverings can’t always be worn. This wave of changes put Ontario on this step.
Lastly, exiting the roadmap, where Covid-19 restrictions will be lifted entirely.
